Here in Janis ECO we produce our own straw bundles. August 2024 was very bad for straw material production. It was very rainy so it made it very difficult to work on the field and in production. Despite the circumstances we managed to produce roofing material for all planned projects.
In September and November we replaced 6 roof parts for the historic Jöns Jonsgården farm building in Skåne - Fleninge.
In October we continued straw roof project in Askhult
Another piece of work done October was the last part for historic building - Bollaltebygget. We have been working on this project since the year 2020. All straw roofs are changed now and the only thing left is one part with a reed roof and plan is to change it next year.
The work was interesting and challenging, because of the junction of two buildings. We like these types of challenges. Solution was found and it works well.
Some roof construction was repaired strictly following traditional construction methods. Of course – local heather on top.
